Verdi Peak has a unique view of the Sierras and the Truckee Meadows
From the West, the road to the top is rough. If you are coming from the East, it is even tougher.
Either way, the views are worth it. If you hike the last mile or two that has it's own rewards.
The elevation is high, over 8,000 feet. Spring lasts for most of the summer
The inhabitants use all of the short summer season in preperation for the long snowy winters
This one, and others like it have been replaced by remote cameras
For now, it is still possible to enjoy the views.
